‘Find and Fix’ re-launches in Kent in a bid to improve county's road system

KCC is starting another ‘Find and Fix’ campaign designed to repair county’s roads again.

The project will be funded by a special £2.5 million grant that Kent County Council has received by the government which will help repair the county’s 5,000-mile road network in the wake of one of the coldest and most damaging Decembers on record.

Bryan SweetlandKent County Council Cabinet Member for Highways, said:
"At the moment we have around 70 repair crews fixing potholes across the county. However, I know potholes are still a very real issue in some areas and this latest initiative will help a great deal.”

The scheme will be aiming at fixing potholes and defects that might cause a hazard or safety issue for motorists and other road users. Additional specialist tarmac firms will be drafted in as well.

With the ‘Find and Fix’ campaign last year the council managed to repair 31,000 potholes and resurfaced 122,000 square-metres of roads.

“We will begin more preventative treatments this year, such as surface dressing, where we put down a protective layer on the carriageway and resurfacing roads, to stop potholes forming in the first place,” said John Burr, Director of Kent Highway Services.
“We are all aware that budgets are coming under increasing pressure and we are investing wisely in our roads now to reduce the costs of repairs in the future. We are making good progress improving the county’s roads and we will continue to do so,” added Mr Burr.

Anyone who would like to report a fault should either do it online with the fault report form at KCC website or call the 24-hour help line on 08458 247 800.

Kent Newswire asked Kent people what they think about the new-old scheme and which towns and roads need an urgent repair.
